Kin Kin Arboretum
‘Arboretum’ – a place where many kinds of trees and shrubs are grown for exhibition and study.
The Kin Kin Arboretum is located 2.5 km south of the village on Pomona Kin Kin Road, opposite Western Branch Road.
The Arboretum is dedicated to the memory of W.D. Francis, who was appointed Assistant Government Botanist at the Queensland Herbarium in 1919 and promoted to Government Botanist in 1950. He is well known in botanical circles for his iconic work, Australian Rain-forest Trees. Many of the photos in this book are from the Kin Kin area, which had some of the best ‘scrubs’ in Queensland.
A collaboration between the Kin Kin Community Group, Noosa Council and Noosa & District Landcare Group has recently seen an upgrade and new signage for the Arboretum.
Individual plant species are marked with names and a QR code which takes you to Noosa’s Native Plants website where a full description of the species is available.
